What To Do Right Now

Five things worth doing in the next ten minutes. They limit the damage and protect any claim you file later.

1

Contain the Water

Put a bucket or bin under the drip and move furniture, rugs, and electronics clear of the area. Water spreads further than it appears to.

2

Relieve a Bulging Ceiling

If a section of ceiling is sagging with trapped water, carefully puncture the lowest point with a screwdriver and drain it into a bucket. It feels wrong to make a hole in your own ceiling, but a controlled release beats the whole section collapsing, which is what happens otherwise.

3

Cut Power to the Area

If water is near light fixtures, ceiling fans, or outlets, shut off that circuit at the breaker. Never stand in water to reach a switch.

4

Photograph Everything

Before you clean anything up. Photos of the active leak, the water, and the damage are what an insurance claim gets built on later. Note the date and the weather.

5

Stay Off the Roof

A wet roof, in weather, in the dark is the worst possible combination. Beyond the fall risk, walking damaged shingles causes more damage and blurs the line between storm damage and foot traffic for the adjuster.

6

Then Call Us

We will get someone out, stabilize the roof, and document what we find. There is no charge for the inspection regardless of what happens next.

When We Arrive

Stop the Water First, Then Fix It Properly

The first priority on any emergency call is stopping water from entering the building. Depending on the extent of the damage, the weather, and the daylight left, that means either a permanent repair on the spot or proper temporary stabilization.

A tarp installed correctly holds until we can complete the work. One thrown over a ridge and weighted down with bricks does not, and it tends to fail during the next storm rather than a calm afternoon.

We work on asphalt shingle and metal roofs, residential and commercial, and we document everything before and after in case the repair becomes an insurance claim.

Immediate Stabilization

Properly secured tarping and temporary repair to stop water entry, so nothing more gets in while the permanent fix is scheduled.

Source Diagnosis

The leak is rarely directly above the stain. Water travels along rafters and across ceiling drywall before dropping, so finding the actual entry point is most of the work.

Honest Assessment

Once the emergency is handled, we tell you plainly whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement. We will not push you toward the larger job if the smaller one will do.

If a Storm Caused It

Emergency Repairs and Your Insurance Claim

Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, which means emergency tarping is generally expected and covered. Keep your receipts. Policies also carry reporting deadlines, and the longer the gap between the storm and the claim, the harder causation becomes to establish. Documenting the damage now, while it is clearly tied to a specific event, protects the claim.

What Usually Caused It

Where Emergency Leaks Come From

Emergency leaks tend to come from a short list. Knowing which one you are dealing with determines whether this is a repair or the end of your roof’s service life.

Wind-Lifted Shingles

Wind breaks the adhesive seal holding shingles down without necessarily removing them. The shingle looks normal and is no longer attached, so the next wind-driven rain has a path underneath it.

Failed Flashing

Chimneys, walls, and skylights depend entirely on flashing. Where a previous repair used roof cement instead of metal, that patch cracks within a couple of seasons and hides the condition underneath.

Cracked Pipe Boots

Rubber boots around plumbing vents dry out and split after roughly eight to twelve years, long before the shingles wear out. Common, easy to miss, and one of the leaks we find most often.

Ice Damming

In colder markets, meltwater refreezes at the eaves and backs up under the shingles until it finds a way in. It is usually a ventilation and insulation problem rather than a shingle problem.

End of Service Life

Sometimes there is no single failure. A roof with widespread granule loss simply gives up during a heavy rain. At that point a repair buys months rather than years.

Storm Impact

Hail bruising or a limb strike compromises the shingle at the point of impact. Damage from impact often does not leak immediately, which is why post-storm inspection matters even when nothing appears wrong.

Our Process

How an Emergency Call Works

From your first call to a completed repair, we keep things clear, documented, and moving.

1

You Call

Tell us what you are seeing and where. We schedule a crew and talk you through anything you should do before we arrive.

2

Stabilize

We stop the water first. Properly secured tarping or an on-the-spot repair, depending on damage, weather, and daylight.

3

Diagnose & Document

We trace the leak to its actual source and photograph everything, which is what an insurance claim gets built on.

4

Permanent Repair

We complete the work with quality materials, on schedule, and leave the property clean.

What Homeowners Are Saying

Real Reviews, Real Results

We had hail damage and Kaiser replaced our roof in a day and a half. The crew was positive, fast, and worked late to get it done. They were excellent workers and we would use them again without hesitation. Really could not have asked for a better experience.

Angi Verified Homeowner Verified Review

Kaiser did an excellent job with our roofing project. We had storm damage from wind and hail. Dennis was our project manager and went above and beyond in every aspect. He did the most thorough initial evaluation I have seen and worked closely with our insurance company to get full approval after they initially refused to cover the full roof.

Blue Ash Homeowner Google Review

Our sales rep was thorough and very detailed in helping us work through the insurance process and complete the job to our specifications. I have dealt with other roofing companies before and none were as easy to work with as Kaiser. They did an outstanding job and communicated clearly throughout.
